He stepped inside,
and for a moment, Mars disappeared.
Steam kissed his skin.
Basil warmed the air.
And something ancient unclenched inside him.
Out there was red rock and silence.
In here—green, water, pulse.
He sat.
He didn’t speak.
He didn’t need to.
He was not a pioneer.
He was a guest.
And the plants,
welcomed him home.
